The short version. Plonk is a game about piling up cats. We collect what the game needs to work, and nothing to sell. We don't sell your data, and we don't show ads.
Who we are
Plonk is made by OddEggs Studio, Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam. You can reach us at hello@oddeggs.studio.
What we collect and why
- Your account. You can play as a guest, and your game stays on your phone. If you sign in, it's with Sign in with Apple: we get an ID from Apple and, if you choose, an email address (it can be Apple's private relay address, so we never see your real one).
- Your game. Your cats, scores, places, room and paws, so your progress is saved and you can pick up where you left off on any device you sign in on.
- Your player name and face. The name you choose and the cat you wear as your face. These appear on leaderboards.
- Your home, for visitors. Other players can visit your home from a leaderboard: they see your room as you made it, the cats living in it, and the place you last played.
- Weather. Home's window shows your local weather. To get it, the app uses your approximate location, only if you allow it. We don't store your location. Weather data comes from Apple Weather.
- Photo cats (Plonk Club). If you turn your own cat into a Plonk cat, the photo you choose or take is sent to TypeSafe (typesafe.ai), an AI service, to read the breed, coat and markings. Hidden details in the photo, like where it was taken, are removed before it's analysed. TypeSafe processes it in the United States, doesn't train AI models on it, and keeps it only as long as it needs to provide the service. We keep the Plonk cat it makes, not the photo.
- Purchases. Plonk Club and other purchases go through Apple. We receive confirmation of what you bought; we never see your card or payment details.
- Reminders. If you turn reminders on, we send notifications about things like today's tasks. You can turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings.
- Crashes. When something breaks, Sentry records the error, the screen you were on and your device model, so we can fix it.
- How the game is played. PostHog records things like which screens you open and how long rounds last, linked to a random ID rather than your name or email. It helps us decide what to improve. You can turn it off in Settings.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your data.
- We don't use your data for advertising or track you across other apps and websites.
- We don't use your cat photos to train AI models, and neither does TypeSafe.
Who else handles it
A few services help run the game: Cloudflare hosts our servers and stores game data; Apple handles sign-in, purchases and weather; TypeSafe reads photos for photo cats; Sentry collects crash reports; and PostHog collects play analytics. They only use your data to provide that service to us. Your data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States and Vietnam.
How long we keep it
We keep your game data while you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete your game data within 30 days, except what we must keep by law. Your leaderboard entries and your home disappear for other players straight away.
Your choices
- Change your player name and face at any time in the app.
- Turn off location, notifications or photo access in iOS Settings.
- Delete your account any time in the app: Settings, Account, Delete account.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it, by writing to hello@oddeggs.studio.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have further rights, including to object to processing or to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Plonk is fine for all ages, but it isn't made for children under 13 and isn't in the App Store's Kids category. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you think a child has given us personal data, write to us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
